AUSSIES OUSTED BY ENGLAND, SPAIN LATE GOAL BEATS SWEDEN
Tom J will win the pool - but with Kds911-2 or Kds911-3?

EL SEGUNDO, CA (smt) --  2c-Spain once again let the opponent score late to tie it but this time ESP's game-winner was in regulation in the 89', knocking off 1G-Sweden, 2-1.  Co-host 1B-Australia's injured Sam Kerr came back and scored a golazo to tie 1-D England but ENG eventually pulled away 3-1.  Both teams are making their first final.  The women's team brought it home for the 2022 Women's Euro title and will try to repeat it for the WWC.

For the Finals, 21 had ENG making the final and 5 had ESP.  Two got both teams correct (Kds911-2 (1st, 131) and The Naomi Girma Era (2nd-Tied, 119)) while 21 had neither.  Kds911-2 extended the leadto 12 points over The Naomi Girma Era and his first entry, Kds911 (but is eliminated).  Tom J will win the pool with either Kds911-2 or Kds911-3 (if ENG wins) (4th, 118) and can finish 1st/2nd if ENG wins, a double win!  Overall 7 entries are alive with Kds911-2 the only entry guaranteed money.  CarinJennings-IsGOAT (5th, 117) and Lavelle Lover (8th-T, 113) will finish 3rd/4th if ESP wins and Jolly Old England (6th, 115) and Tiocfaidh Ár Lá!!! (11th, 112) will finish 3rd/4th if ENG wins.

The best way to keep up with the pool is to follow @HWCI_Pools on Twitter or visit the #hwciWWC hashtag (you don't need Twitter account to view) often for daily updates.  Less often will be our Facebook group page (post comments or organize viewing parties) and then these newsletters every 4 days or so.

SIDES 'N KICKS:  first-time WWC teams finished 5-19-1 (PHI, VIE, ZAM, IRL, HAI, POR, MAR [R16], PAN) (1 win due to two debutantes playing each other PORvVIE)... JPN's Hinata Miyazawa still leads golden boot race with 5 goals...  ESP is only non-group winner in semis... +12 stoppage added to end of ESPvNED regulation... Lauren James (ENG) received a 2-match ban for stomping on a player in the Round of 16, meaning she will also miss the semifinal..

Locally in AUS/NZL, on Tuesday, 7 had ESP making the final while two lost SWE as their champion, leaving 8 entries alive and just 3 who can win the pool.  Although 3 entries can win, it's actually between two people.  Rob C (CarinJennings-IsGOAT (2nd, 117 pts) wins the pool if 1B-Australia wins their semifinal and Tom J (Kds911-2 (1st, 122) or Kds911-3 (6th, 109)) wins if 1D-England wins their semifinal.  Only Kds911-2 has clinched at least a tie for 4th place so 7 entries are vying for the final 3 spots.  Lavelle Lover is 3rd (113) but can't win the pool while Kds911-3 can win it.  Kds911 is 4th but is eliminated while Tiocfaidh Ár Lá!!! is 12th but finish 4th. ... on Wednesday, 21 entries had ENG making the Final with Kds911-2 (1st, 131) and The Naomi Girma Era (2nd-Tied, 119) getting both ENG and ESP.  21 had neither.  ENG and ESP were each picked by 5 entries to win it all, behind USA's 26 and GER's 6.  Thus, we don't know which entry will win the pool.  But we do know it will be Tom J, as he wins with either Kds911-2 (ESP win) or Kds911-3 (4th, 118) (ENG win).  An ENG win will give him 1st and 2nd!  And his main entry, Kds911 is tied for 2nd but is eliminated while Tiocfaidh Ár Lá!!! is 11th but can still win 4th.  The Naomi Girma Era is tied for 2nd but can't win the pool while Kds911-3 is 4th but can still win the pool.  7 entries are alive but only Kds911-2 is guaranteed money, leaving 7 vying for the final 3 money spots. ...
