Larzby still in first
The Big East went 0-2 in the final two games while Ohio St. and Florida advance, keeping Gator Glory happy and alive. Larzby is in first by 5 points. Just 67 can win money (top 6 spots). Two of the top 5 entries lost Michigan St as their champ. Three went 3-1 for the day.
Big East 2-0 thus far vs Big 10
Sort of a reverse first half, as Syracuse advances but Izzo’s Spartans don’t, becoming the first #1 seed to fall. Larzby opens up a 5-point lead with his Louisville pick. He’ll need the cushion as he had Duke and Missouri in his Final Four.

PO Box has been checked and no new entries, so we are officially at 134 entries ($1,340). So, here is the official prize breakdown:

So thanks to Apple, I had to manually enter several brackets because of Mac issues. Doing this after only a few hours sleep every day something was bound to slip. So there is a 134th entry as pictured, turned in on time and even better, paid for (both her husband and her mentioned there were two entries but it didn’t register with me). So we now have 134 entries. Fortunately, no one got eliminated due to this, so 101 are still alive to win money though I bet some of you wanted to be put out of your misery. The issue was the two nicknames she used were “Buckeye23” and “TheBuckeye23” which with tired eyes looked the same (and the fact she never had entered twice before). But at least it’ been corrected. Actually, I still have one more run to the P.O. Box (mainly to collect checks) so there is still a very minute chance someone actually mailed in their entry (postmarked Thursday AM or earlier). Haven’t had one of those in ages. So standings will be updated later today for 134 entries.

Update delayed, but Possibilities up
Opting for sleep so update will be delayed. But now, there is a Possibilities tab on the top menu which will show you if you are alive and what percent you have at 1st place and at a money spot (1st-6th). Hopefully, I’ll get the update out tomorrow ~noontime and then on Tuesday, release the Bonus Prize details and Money Prize breakdown (remember, 100% of the fees are given back as prizes, which means with 133 entries, you all will split $1,330 in prize money).
Just when you thought you were out, they bring you back in
As bad as it may seem, some of you don’t despair. Only 33 entries were officially eliminated from any of the top 6 prizes. That means 100 can win money. Check the Standings to see if you are still alive. More details late, late tonight…
Ballbusted
Ballbuster2 lost his champ Georgetown. Are more upsets coming? None of the eight who were perfect yesterday got NC State although 22 did pick them.

Boring day, huh? Interesting pool facts in this update. BTW, ignore for now the Payment status on the right side of the blog. Everyone has indicated how he/she will pay or is a veteran. Will check PO Box Monday.

Don’t tear up those brackets yet… after Sunday you might want to (when we find out who is officially eliminated from the top 6 spots).
East holding form
#1 Syracuse and #2 Ohio St advance yet somehow Coach Cal and Ballbusters3 missed both. Bob Gnarly lost his champ, Kansas St., today and can only get a max of 93 total points.
Great day for Duke haters
Incredibly, the second #2 seed went down this afternoon but it wasn’t that after 11 years since the last time a #2 went down, we now have had two, it was that it was Duke. Duke University. We’ve had two #2 seeds fall during our time doing the pool, in 1997 and in 2001, but those teams were #2 South Carolina and #2 Iowa St, not exactly powerhouses. Same with Missouri earlier. What a great day to watch upsets, not so for my (or your) bracket.
After 12 games today, Larzby has built a four-point lead going 24-4. The last five games have been upsets and we have six today. AsherPrancerVixen is in last going just 13-15 thus far. Dr Fun and SlackJaw were the only two to pick Lehigh, or probably more likely, against Duke. Great job.
Don’t ever bet against Purdue in the first game. They have now won 13 straight 1st (now called 2nd) round games in our pool. Crazy. I knew this and still didn’t pick them, because they were playing a California team, and the California teams quickly went 0-4 (with Cal not even making it into the proper 64 bracket).
MEAC’d!
Just the fifth time a #15 has knocked off a #2, the third time in the HWCI NCAA Pool era. MEAC champ Norfolk St was picked by none of the 133 entries while 11 that had Missouri winning it all are ready to tear up their brackets… don’t do it yet… all you need is an early Kentucky loss and everyone is back to almost even. Wow. Still putting everything together, hopefully done by the evening.
EEChick1400 and Larzby lead with 44 pts (22-2). Interestingly, we had back-to-back sweeps as all 133 picked UNC correctly and then all 133 picked Missouri incorrectly.
