CERRITOS, CA (smt) - Despite no team being foolproof and a weak at-large pool, the consensus seems to be on either the #1MW-Kansas, #1E-Kentucky (with 3 possible one-and-done freshmen), or #1S-Duke (with Coach K) with a whole slew of teams on the second tier. Joining the other 63 teams is #64, now #16S-Arkansas-Pine Bluff who pulled away from #65-Wintrhop, 61-44, in Dayton. The Golden Lions are one of four new teams to play in our pool since we started in 1995. In the past 16 years, 247 teams have been in the 64-team tournament. So do really need 96 teams in the tournament? Hopefully not, but money talks.
As
of 3 a.m. Wednesday, 33 entries have been received including a record 23 on
Tuesday alone. Nine entries are new to our pool and eleven have found us
online. We expect a bunch of entries over the next 30 or so hours but
whether or not we top last year's record of 114 is still a question. Check
the homepage's right column to see
the latest count on how many entries we have (and whether or not they have paid
or not). Today is St. Patrick's Day so good luck (and to #6S-Notre Dame)!
Please join our Facebook HWCI NCAA Pool Group. Here you can join the group and meet your competitors, make new friends, set up NCAA watching gatherings, and post stuff to the wall (pictures, witty comments, etc.). Also, you can be friends with "Hwci Ncaa". Mr. Hwci Ncaa will also pick up the blog automatically and you can post to his wall.
You can mail your entry fee (email me for snail mail) or give your $10 (per entry) to someone who will give the money to David or Scott. We are accepting PayPal (check or PayPal funds only) to "hwci<at>hotmail.com" or credit card PayPal payments to "smt0222<at>yahoo.com" (but the entry fee is $10.61 (61 cents in PayPal fees... damn them!)).
Enter online now! You can also fax your entry to me at (720) 368-0816 or email us for a snail mail address (postmarked by Thursday AM). Make arrangements (such as PayPal) to send in your $10 entry fee(s) by March 18th. Complete rules and daily pool information can be found on the official site: http://www.HWCI.com/ncaa.
Tids &
Bits - When in the bracket form page,
if there's a red
X or if the java applet fails to
load, click here to
download and install the Sun Java Runtime Environment...
why didn't the NCAA March Madness on Demand have the video (only audio) of the
Opening Round game? Do they also think that game is not really part of the
tournament?...

I guess I should do some research now..
