DAVIDSON LEADS DAY OF ROUTS
Flying Ace holds onto first but top prize chances divided equally

CERRITOS, CA (smt)- #10MW-Davidson used a 29-10 run in the second half to put away #3MW-Wisconsin and advance to the Elite 8, 73-56.  Stephen Curry once again scored 20+ points in the second half (22) and 30+ (33) for the game in leading the Wildcats to their 25th straight win and will face #1MW-Kansas who jumped to a big early lead and was never challenged by #12MW-Villanova, 72-57.  With Villanova's loss, Davidson is the lone remaining Wildcats (with Kentucky, Arizona, and Kansas St. falling in earlier rounds).  Davidson will try to become the 3rd double-digit seed to make the Final Four (since 1985).

#2S-Texas used a 30-8 run in the second half to blow out #3S-Stanford, 82-62.  The Longhorns will face #1S-Memphis, which rattled off 19 straight points to build a 34-point lead in beating #5S-Michigan St., 92-74.  How bad was the beating?  Michigan St. scored 17 straight points and had a 33-13 run and still trailed by 14 points.  The Tigers never let the Spartans get any closer and actually hit 9 of their last 10 free throws in sealing the win.  I think Memphis' poor free throw shooting will be an issue if the game is close (less pressure when you have a double-digit lead).  This is the only region with a #1 vs. #2 match-up in the Elite 8.  All four #1 seeds are alive which begs the question whether or not this will finally be the year all four #1 seeds make the Final Four.

FLYING ACE remains in first with 113 points, still one point ahead of FLYIN' HAWAIIANLUSTIFULLY N LONDON! was the only one to pick Davidson's win and subsequently was the only one to go 4-0 (the 48th entry to do so) to move from a tie for 26th to 10th (104 pts).  How odd has this pool been?  Yesterday, FC RACINE 1634 (92) went 4-0 to go from a tie for 39th to 14th place with a 22.2% chance for money; today, he went 0-4 to fall to a tie for 55th and out of the running for money.  He might be the first entry to ever go 4-0 on the first day and 0-4 on the second.  QUICKPICK MCGRAW got Memphis correct to give him 50 pts and avoided being the worst bracket ever.  His 2-6 record for Round 3 was shared by CHUCKIE D (99th, 77).  Seven did go 7-1 for the round.  First Round leader WOKIM (103), which had dropped to 44th after the second round, is now back in a tie for 11th.  BAMAG (108) has slowly made his way from a tie for 44th after the first round to a tie for 3rd now.

FLYING ACE still has the best chance for money (50.8%) and first (13.3%).  However, 7 others have between a 7-12.5% chance to win 1st and five others have a 30+% chance for money.  Texas' win eliminated 15 of the 22 total eliminated entries today.  Just 45 have a chance for money and 20 with a chance for 1st.

In the race for the Bonus Prize, the Pac-10 and Big-10 were both eliminated, leaving just the Big East (11 wins: max 14) and Big 12 (9 wins: max 14) who both have 2 teams in the Elite 8.  There are 35 entries still alive to win the Bonus1 while 41 can't win prize money or the Bonus1 (unless no one wins Bonus1 we go to the Bonus2).

Notes / 노트:  Davidson prevented FLYING ACE from having a perfect Elite 8... 29 still have their Final Four intact... 91 entries picked Kansas, 72 chose Memphis, and 69 chose Texas... if you want to know your possible winning outcomes, post your request on the Discussion Board topic or comment on the Blog entry- as an example, here is my wife's possible winning scenarios (PSW-SP)...
