3/28/97, Issue # 12.5.1 "Root, root, root for your team"

    The #4-SE Arizona Wildcats (23-9) will face the #1-E North Carolina Tar Heels (28-6) in the first game of the day on Saturday.  Then the #1-W Kentucky Wildcats (34-4) will take on the #1-MW Minnesota Golden Gophers (31-3) in the second game at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, IN.  Which pool players will root for who?

    Regardless of loyalties, in order to win money, MAX, THE FLYING ELVI and JAYBIAN II would very much like an Arizona-Kentucky match-up.  Both MAX and THE FLYING ELVI would still be okay with any other match-up.  BIX PIX needs Minnesota to win.  FRODO is a shoo-in for money in UNC wins, but

would settle for a Arizona-Minnesota final.  BAD ASS II needs a UNC-Minnesota match-up for any chance at money.  HENG's only chance for first is if UNC meets Kentucky, but if Kentucky loses, he can still finish second.

    For pride, six chose UNC to win the 1997 NCAA Tournament, three chose Kentucky, and no one chose Arizona or Minnesota.  If UNC loses, that would mean none of the top three finishers will have picked the correct NCAA Champion.  In 1995, the top three finishers all picked UCLA.  Last year, the top three all picked Kentucky.
