NCAA TOURNAMENT '95 - Update

It's just about 10:00 PM Friday night and the last (and most boring) game of the first round has finally ended.  For all of you who are interested in the current standings in our pool, you have to wait a couple of minutes.  Before I release the standings, there has been a slight change in the structure of the pool.  There are now 12 people in the pool.  I was unaware of the latest addition at the time I wrote the original newsletter.  Apparently, we managed to recruit one more person before the entry deadline passed.  The new prize money goes as follows: 1st place gets $70, 2nd place gets $30, 3rd place gets $20, and fourth place still gets to kick him or herself in the head for picking Villanova over Old Dominion.  And now for the current standings...

Out of a possible 64 points (two points per first round game) the leader is The Fabone with 52 points and a possible final score of 172 out of 196.  There is a tie for second between Liver Boy and The Mighty Mobelfakta.  Both entrants have 50 points and a possible final score of 170.  The complete list of current standings are as follows:

Rank Name Points Tot Poss Pts
 1 The Fabone 52 172
2-T Liver Boy 50 170
2-T The Mighty Mobelfakta 50 170
 4 God's Picks 50 169
 5 Bix Pix 50 163
 6 Andy's Crap 48 158
 7 Bad Ass 46 166
 8 Traitor Jen 46 151
 9 Mr. Nelson 44 170
10 Loser who didn't pick UCLA 44 169
11 Tina's Boy 44 150
12 Lil' Saigon 42 155

You should be able to figure out who you are.  Most of the names are quite obvious (Andy's Crap, Liver Boy, Bad Ass, etc...).

Most surprising event of the first round:  Liver Boy's performance

Least surprising event of the first round:  Tina Boy's performance

If you're near the bottom of the list, don't worry.  There are plenty of games left.  You might want to pay special attention to the total possible points because that will give an indication of how things may shape up.

Most notable event of the first round:  Bob Myers sets a career high 4 points in the game versus Florida International University.

Least notable event of the first round:  Crappy CBS coverage of tournament.

Well, good luck and keep rooting for Bob.

I hope the Bruins keep on rolling,

Andy
